A memorial service for Mary Ann Byers, age 89, of Lake Park, was held Monday, July 1, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. Burial was at Silver Lake Cemetery.

A funeral service for Mary Cornell, age 95, of Spirit Lake, will be held Friday, June 14, 2019, at 11:00a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Spirit Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 13, from 5:00-7:00p.m., at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
Mary never shied away from anyone that she encountered and usually left those conversations with the conclusion that she had just met a new best friend. Her 95 years of life committed to loving her neighbors came to a close Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Jon Gontjes, age 64, of Peterson, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at his home in rural Peterson after a battle with cancer for the last 2 ½ years.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 4:00pm, at his home in rural Peterson (6961 505th Street). Rev. Grant Mangold officiating.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Mary Lynne.

Patricia Ann (Welch) Selander passed away on Saturday, May 25, in Lakeville, Minnesota, at the age of 87. She was born in Logan, Iowa, on December 5, 1931, to William and Verna Welch. She was raised in Logan with her sister and 2 brothers. She was the youngest in her family. She graduated from Duchesne College in Omaha, Nebraska, with a Degree in Education.

Delores (Dee) Enderson, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019, at home in Tempe, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family. Delores was born to Pearl Irene Sifrit (Ingvall) and Arthur (Art) Sifrit on June 13, 1929, in Estherville, Iowa. Dee was the second eldest of 4 children and the only daughter. She was a graduate of Estherville High School. While attending high school, Dee became a talented baton twirler performing during many basketball and football games.

John Richard (Jack) Wagner was born October 3, 1946, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Edward and Margaret (Marron) Wagner. He passed from this life April 26, 2019, at home in Spirit Lake at the age of 72 years. Memorial visitation will be noon until 2:00pm, Thursday, May 2, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, with Memorial Mass to be at 2:00pm, Father Merlin Schrad – Celebrant. At rest will be at a later date, Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville.

Longtime Terril resident Bernice Lavon (Bridson) Lewis, age 93, died peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato, Minnesota, after suffering a severe stroke Friday, April 5. Her sons were with her during those last days.

Marlys Beam, 76, of Redington Shores, died April 6, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida. She was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to Floyd and Minnie (Nugent) McClain. She was predeceased by her husband, Randell Fredrich Beam, her parents, and her brothers Arnold and Donald. She is survived by her son, Fredrich Joseph Beam, her sister Alice Deel, sister-in-law Joyce Harmond, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. She was employed at St. Anthony’s Hospital as an Administrative Assistant for 35 years. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on July 25, at 10:30am. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service.

A funeral service for Jeffery (Skip) Eggers, 53, of Milford, was held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 10:30am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial at the Okoboji Cemetery in Arnolds Park.

Doris Ann Johnson, 82, of Arnolds Park, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake, following a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Rev. David Simonsen will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at the Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 10:00am on Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Barrett Wayne Gray, 65, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, passed away at home on March 31, 2019, after a 7 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service for Lawrence Gath, age 84, of Spirit Lake, was held Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 1:30pm, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Burial was at Silver Lake Cemetery.
Lawrence Donald Gath, the son of Ernest and Anna (Koster) Gath, was born May 9, 1934, in Round Lake, Minnesota. He graduated from Lake Park High School in 1953.

Gerald Devore Cummins, 89, of Arnolds Park, formerly of Sanborn passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

A funeral service for Janice Wilson, age 80, of Milford, was held Monday, March 18, 2019, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial was at Milford Cemetery. Jan passed away March 8, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Stockdale, Jerome Edward, (Jerry), of Queenstown, New Zealand, passed away peacefully at Lakes District Hospital, Queenstown, on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at age 88. Jerry was born in Estherville, Iowa, to Aline Martin Stockdale and Lloyd Eseke Stockdale. He married Barbara Pierson and they had three children, Sara Stockdale McFarlin, Jay Edward Stockdale, and Maria Ann (Mia) Stockdale. After their divorce, Jerry moved to Okoboji. In 1982 Jerry married Sally Woltz and they have one son, John R. Stockdale. A dual national, Jerry was a proud citizen of NZ, where Jerry, Sally, and John made their family home twenty years ago.

Michele “Micky” Jensen, 68, of West Fargo, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, surrounded by family at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Grady Parham, 91, a resident of 2702 Sunner Avenue in Spirit Lake, passed away Saturday February 23, 2019, at the Accura Nursing Home in Spirit Lake. Born Grady Joseph Parham on February 5, 1928, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Henry Grady Parham of Georgia and Adeline Catherine (Snyder) Parham of Kentucky. Grady graduated in 1946 from St. Xavier High School in Louisville and received his BS in Marketing from the University of Louisville in 1954.

Marjorie “Marj” Roseberry, 98, of Milford passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at her home on West Lake Okoboji.

Dwane H. Netsch, 90, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Laurens, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

A celebration of life church service for Anna (Ann) Katherine Dodge, 98, of Terril, will be Saturday April 13, 2019 at First Lutheran Church of Milford at 10:00.
Anna Katherine Dodge, the daughter of Amour and Katie (Seidel) Harris, was born near rural Dickens, Iowa on May 2, 1920. Ann joined an older sister and a brother. The Harris family farmed near the Dickens and Cornell area, and she graduated from Cornell in May, 1937.

Services for Melvin Eugene Johnson were held Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Spencer, Iowa, officiant, Pastor Kent Dunwoody. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Arrangements were made by Henry Olson Funeral Home. (www.henryolsonfuneral.com).

Keith D. Rick, 83, of Spirit Lake, and formerly of Urbana, died Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Accura Health Care of Spirit Lake. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2019, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton with Rev. Jessica Crane-Munoz officiating. Interment will be in the Urbana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.

David K. Baker, age 57, of Terril, Iowa, formerly of Holstein, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  A funeral mass was held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church of Holstein with the Msgr. Kenneth A. Seifried officiating.  Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation was held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.  The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation for Randy Cody was held Tuesday, January 1, at Henry Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville, Iowa. Funeral Service was held at Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, with Pastor Ernie Gafkjen officiating. Randy was laid to rest at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery – Military Rites, Iowa Honor Guard, VFW Post 3388 & American Legion Post 91. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the VFW.

Michael Paul Moir, 56, of Milford, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, after a thirteen-year battle with cancer.

Stanley Tripp, Sr. was born July 23, 1925, to Herman K. and Fae Tripp. He received his education in Excelsior, Iowa schools and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.
