Phillip T. Severtson, beloved father and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2021, at the age of 73. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Memorial Services of Iowa in Ankeny.

Lavone Eckard Pittler, age 64, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Lawrence Chester Miller, the son of Edward Lawrence Christian and Rosetta (Cain) Miller was born June 28, 1933, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

John Mather Hinn, beloved husband, father and generous businessman, died on February 26, 2021 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. John’s passion for life was evident from the very beginning of his life. The son of Robert “Maurice” and Irma Lucille Hinn, John was born in his family’s home in Laurens on September 13, 1942. With the love and patience of his mother and aunt Larie Wells, he was deemed healthy after just a few months. He is survived by his sister Marney Hinn Norman.

A visitation for Linda Gano, age 72, of Montgomery, was held Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Thomas “Tom” Michael Brodie, 70, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021, at his home in Arnolds Park, Iowa.

A funeral service for Borge “Doc” Bak, age 87, of Spirit Lake, was held Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Doc may be directed to either the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org) or the Ataxia-Telangiectasia Children’s Project. (ATCP.org)

Raymond Jay Howard Jr., age 60, passed away suddenly on January 22, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, from covid-related heart failure. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth “Beth” Kramme, 96, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Comfort Hospice House in Pella, Iowa.

William ‘Bill’ Hughes Carmichael, age 84, of West Okoboji, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021. He was born December 15, 1936, to Albert Charles and Madora Hughes Carmichael.

A private family service was held for Leona Spieker, age 97, of Milford. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.

Ione Lennette (Rossow) Brekke, the daughter of Alma & Leonard Rossow, was born on February 20, 1927, in Hollandale, Minnesota. She passed away at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 93. Private family services will be held. A family service was held for Norman Nattress, age 79, of Milford, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 10:00am.

Delores Marchand, age 87, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Wayne Wilford Kress was born to Charles and Amy (Carrigan) Kress at their home south of Ayrshire, Iowa, on July 10, 1921. Wayne was only one and a half years old when he lost his father, and he spent his childhood years with his mother and siblings as tenants on different farms. They farmed with horses in the beginning and eventually converted to mechanical equipment. The family rode to town in a horse-drawn buggy until they bought their first vehicles – a Ford Model T and then a Model A.

Ardyce Mae Rueter, daughter of Arthur and Anna (Brenne) Anderson, was born on December 2, 1934, in Lakefield Minnesota.

A funeral service for Cameron Welch, age 83, of Spirit Lake, was held Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial was at Okoboji Cemetery.

Arthur “Art” Henry Berg, 89, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at his residence in Spirit Lake.

Doug Krogman, age 50, of Ames, Iowa, died January 9, 2021, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Mary Lou Adams, 77, of Arnolds Park, passed from this life on January 8, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. It took her body but never touched her love of her dear family, friends, or faith.

Steven Reighard, the son of Eleanor Reighard and Jim Sandberg, was born January 9, 1961, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He died on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 59.

Mary “Tooty” Vugteveen, 75, of Milford passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake. A visitation was held on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A procession took place to First Lutheran Church in Milford where a funeral service was held. There will be a burial held at a later date in the in the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

Wilfred “Willy” McHugh, 79, of Okoboji and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2021, at Lee Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers.

A funeral service for Earline Blahauvietz, age 93, of Spirit Lake, was held Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial was at Union Cemetery in Harris, Iowa.

Burton Tungland, 89, of Spirit Lake, passed away on December 22, 2020, at Accura Healthcare Center of Spirit Lake, with complications from Covid.

Frederick Reed Dowden, 89, of Spirit Lake, died at home on December 22, 2020. Born to Frederick Rufus and Bessie Elva (Reed) Dowden on October 4, 1931, at the family home on 16th Street, Fred spent nearly all his life in Spirit Lake, a place he loved dearly.
