Teresa Lee Hanson, daughter of James and Devona (Henely) Schneider, was born December 26, 1952, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She received her education in Graettinger and Ruthven schools. Teresa was blessed with three children, Jennifer, Laura and Karen.

On December 26, 1997, Teresa was united in marriage to Leon Hanson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. 

Teresa was employed at Polaris Industries in Spirit Lake and she worked at other various jobs in the area. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, helping Leon with their farm operation. Teresa was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. She was very devoted to her faith. Teresa enjoyed photography and caring for her flower gardens.

Teresa passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Lakes Regional Health Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her father, James Schneider and a brother, Joe Schneider.

She is survived by her husband, Leon of Spirit Lake, Iowa; her children, Jennifer (Ben) Gehrke of Rembrandt, Iowa; Laura (Aaron) Woods of Aurora, Illinois, and Karen Benson of Des Moines, Iowa; her mother, Devona Trimble of Ruthven, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Emily Rentsch, Abigail Rentsch, Maysen Gehrke, Rhianna Woods, Ian Woods, Rian Woods, Emma Woods, Landon Hildreth, Nathan Hildreth, and Kaitlyn Benson; two brothers, Charles (Dory) Schneider of Spencer, Iowa and Daniel Schneider of Ruthven, Iowa; six sisters, Camilla (Steve) Tracy of Gastonia, North Carolina; Connie (Jim) Morley of Maplewood, Minnesota; Susan (Rod) Ferguson of Ruthven, Iowa; Mary (Mitch) Anderson of Ruthven, Iowa; Cathy (Jim) Frerk of Rolfe, Iowa and Heidi Gellerman of Ruthven, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022, 10:30am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Officiant is Rev. Brian Hughes and interment at Calvary Cemetery in Ruthven, Iowa.
