Joseph Elmer Meyer, 91, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Family and friends are invited to graveside services Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 am, at Calvary Cemetery, in Milford. There will be a reception following at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Milford, in the parish hall.
Joseph Elmer Meyer was born June 14, 1929, to Elmer and Hattie Meyer in Ruthven, IA. Joseph was the 6th of 11 children raised on a dairy farm in Milford, Iowa.
Joseph married his best friend and love of his life, Virginia Moeller in 1951. Together they raised 7 children, Marcy Gist(Guy), Nancy Tatum, Patty Clement(Chris), Sharon Eden(Mark), Joe Meyer(Patty), Mary Compton(March), and David Meyer(Lennie). He was “Gramps” to 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The love shown to him by all of his family is a true testament of what a truly great man he was. He spent most of his later years with his special lady friend, Jan Fuit. He was a devoted family man and a friend to many. Joseph raised his family outside of San Diego, CA and moved to Fredricksburg, TX, late in his life. He enjoyed being involved with his kids’ activities including sports, camping and especially horses. He was always there to help family, friends and anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
Joseph was preceded in death in 1993 by his wife, Virginia. He is survived by his sister, Carol Allen and brother-in-law, Earl Sporrer.
