Douglas Wayne Nielsen, the son of Lloyd and Marilyn (Backstrom) Nielsen was born June 11, 1970, in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Webb and Spencer, IA areas, where he attended school. He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Quality Refrigerated Services in Spencer.
Doug married Janice Waddel on July 8, 2019,in Algona, IA. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, cooking, trying new recipes, riding his motorcycle, and especially getting together with friends and family. He was a proud member of ABATE. Doug will be remembered for his passion in succeeding and positivity in his work ethic.
Doug passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Everly, IA, at the age of 54. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, Hilda and Niels Nielsen; maternal grandparents, Milford (Red) and Marjorie (Vyonne) Backstrom; 2 nephews, Joshua Burger and Lucas Krieg, and one great-nephew, Braden Huberg.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice of Everly, IA; 2 step-sons, Kyle Champine of Everly, IA and Derrick (Josie) Champine of Spirit Lake, IA; one step-granddaughter Bonnie; long lost son, Tyler Larson of Spencer, IA; 2 daughters, Sydney and Haylee of Spencer, IA; his mother, Marilyn Moor of Spencer, IA; 2 sisters, Kim (Torrey) Krause of Everly, IA and Vickie (Terry) Krieg of Spencer, IA; one brother, Shane (Michelle) Nielsen of Spencer, IA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 4:00-7:00pm, at Everly Chapel in Everly, Iowa.
