A Funeral Mass for Elaine Mills of Spirit Lake will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Those attending are welcome to join the family for a lunch following the burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A visitation for Elaine will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday at the church.
Rose Elaine Mills of Spirit Lake, Iowa, passed away in the evening of Saturday, May 30, at the age of 95. She was born on March 4,1931, in Early, Iowa, to Frank and Ella Drey.
Elaine graduated from Early’s Sacred Heart High School in May 1948. She was united in marriage to Herbert Mills on June 4, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church.
Elaine and Herb were blessed with seven children, five boys and two girls: Steve (Mary), of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Larry (Cindi), Ankeny, Iowa; Gayle Farmer (Steve), Columbus, Nebraska; Bruce (Mary Holtapp), Kalamazoo, Michigan; Jeanette Jurrens, Marysville, Ohio; Kevin Mills (Wendy), Lanyon, Iowa; and Gary Mills (Candee), Byron, Minnesota. She has seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings (Mary Lundberg, Catherine Williams, Phyllis Point, Helen Holly, Frank Drey, Jr., and Jim Drey.) Her youngest sister, Jean Ann Spalt, lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
