Christopher Kim Petrick, 36, of Shoreline, Washington, formerly of Spirit Lake, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes in Shoreline, WA, on Monday, November 13, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at the church. The burial will be held in the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Okoboji. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Timpe Post #23 and the John W. Kidd VFW Post #4514, both of Spirit Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com
Chris was born on February 26, 1987, in Seoul, Korea. He met his adoptive parents, Dave and Bev Petrick, on July 31, 1987. He was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Chris graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 2005. He received his BA degree from Simpson College in 2009. While attending Simpson he received his EMT certification. He also served as a worship leader for Lutheran Church of Hope and continued with that after his graduation from Simpson and later with THRIVE. He also completed his paramedic certification and worked as a paramedic for the West Des Moines and Clive fire departments. 
He enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a hospital corpsman and was deployed to Afghanistan and later to Japan. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Des Moines where he continued his training to become a lead paramedic and then a flight paramedic. He continued working for West Des Moines, Clive, and Mercy Hospital. He moved to Washington when he was offered a full-time flight paramedic position with Life Flight. In 2022, he became an Organ Donor Coordinator for LifeCenter Northwest.
He is survived by his parents, Dave and Bev Petrick, his beloved dog Bo, aunts, and uncles: Dan and Kathy Petrick, Carlo and Linda Petrick, Sue and Bill Preuss, Lois and Roger Watson, Dea and Bill Otte, Rose Rosenberg, Lynne Bremer, Becky and Keith Bicknase, many cousins and friends throughout the country.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Mildred Petrick, Arthur and Annette Bremer, Uncle Roger Thorson, Uncle Dave Rosenberg, and Uncle John Bremer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gary Sinise Wounded Warriors Foundation; Camp Okoboji, Wahpeton, IA; the backpack program at the Spirit Lake and Okoboji Schools; or to anyone’s personal choice.
