Wayne was born March 14th, 1949, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Edmund and Julia Feller and raised in the Remsen and Sioux City area, where he attended high school until the age of 17. Wayne was determined to join the Army to serve our country. He enlisted in the service in 1966 at the age of 17. His parents were required to sign permission papers for him to enlist due to his young age. He was stationed at Camp Coiner in Seoul,Korea, working as a mechanic. He proudly served from 1966 to 1969 when he was Honorably discharged. After leaving the service, Wayne obtained his GED, married, and settled in Sioux City and started his family. The family moved to California and back to Iowa a few times. Wayne found work in many fields throughout his life, always working multiple jobs to support his growing family. He spent many hours away from home as an over the road truck driver. When he was home, you would find him watching sports, tinkering on cars/trucks in his garage, or on the golf course. Wayne ultimately decided to retire from trucking and worked at Woodlyn Hills golf course, where he could play and work at the same time! He spent the last few years of his life at Keelson Harbour assisted living, where he loved his being the “hall monitor”, playing cards, growing his garden, feeding the birds, and being ornery…but a big softy inside!
