A funeral service for Sylva Wallace, age 100 of Milford, was held Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial was at Milford Cemetery.
Sylva Ellene Wallace, daughter of Lillian (Clark) and Martin (Bill) Wallace, was born on September 3, 1919, south of Lake Park at the home of her grandparents, John and Maggie Clark. She went to school through 8th grade in Montgomery, 9th-11th grade in Spirit Lake and graduated from Estherville in 1937.
Sylva worked for E.C. and Merel C. Johnson, in Estherville for forty-five years from October 1937 to May 1982, as a secretary and in their gift shop.
In her earlier years, she loved to travel, visiting Lake Michigan, Florida, Northern California, the Black Hills and Winnipeg, Canada. Sylva also loved to do embroidery work and crochet, making many gifts.
Sylva was a great source of information if anyone asked her questions on genealogy. She also enjoyed going for coffee with her friends at Buy-Rite for many years.
Sylva passed away May 22, 2020, at Accura Healthcare in Milford at one hundred years of age.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin (Bill) Wallace and Lillian Wallace; brother, Duane A. Wallace.
Left to mourn her loss are her nieces and nephew; Kathy (Gary) Peterson of Lyons, Nebraska, Marty (Marie) Wallace of Sibley, Iowa and Hope (Jim) McBride of South Sioux City, Nebraska; many great-great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
