Paula Gerdes, 70, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Monday, November, 14, 2022, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
A celebration of life for Paula will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home, formerly the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
Paula Kathleen Gerdes was born on August 19, 1952, to Robert and Betty (Beck) Barfoot in Estherville, Iowa. After earning her GED, she attended Iowa Lakes Community College studying Social Work. She worked in the lakes area in greenhouses doing what she loved, tending to plants and flowers. She was untied in marriage to Larry Gerdes in June of 1986.
In her free time you could find Paula outdoors tending her garden, flowers and plants. She enjoyed doing crafts and collecting dragons, crystals and fairies.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Larry Gerdes of Spirit Lake; son, Troy (Sara) Barfoot of Winter Park, FL; daughter, Carissa McCoy of Spirit Lake, IA, grandchildren, Keira and Marcus McCoy; brother, Michael Barfoot of St. Augustine, FL; and her sister, Colleen (Michael) Bennert of Lake Park, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Zachary Gerdes; brother, Tom Barfoot and her niece, Angie Jostand.
