Herbert Hagedorn, 90, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Lakes Regional Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 2:00pm, at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2:00-4:00pm, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Herbert Lewis Hagedorn was born on August 26, 1931, in Royal, Iowa, to James and Marie (Hendricksen) Hagedorn. He was married to Carol Davis and to that union 2 children were born, Roger and Virginia. He was later united in marriage to Jeri Paxton to which a son, Jason “Jake” was born.
Herbert worked as a carpenter. He worked for a short time for his father and was later employed by Fageries Construction for 20 years. He was later employed by Moller Construction for 10 years and then went on his own for 10 years, he concluded his career working for his son at Hagedorn Construction for 25 years. In his free time, Herbert enjoyed catfishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Virginia (Gary) Severson of Leland, IA; son, Jason “Jake” Hagedorn of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Lori Swedbery, Melissa Hagedorn, Jessie Hagedorn, Tim Thompson, Lori Ann Cummings, and Tod Severson; 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and his brother, Ron Hagedorn of Desoto, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Roger Hagedorn, siblings Fern, Everett, infant twins in children birth, Talbert, Forrest, Willard, Helen, Virginia, Kenneth, Oral, Burdell and Marilyn.
