Franklin (Frank) Theodore Thompson

Franklin (Frank) Theodore Thompson, 83, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 5th, 2024, at Lakes Regional Healthcare, in Spirit Lake, following a 14 month battle with Leukemia.
A celebration of life for Frank was held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Crosswinds Church in Spirit Lake. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Franklin Theodore Thompson, son of Clayton C. And Mildred F (Woodhall) Thompson, was born June 18th, 1940, in Glenwood, Minnesota. He was the third of four children. Frank’s early years were spent on the farm in Glenwood, MN, withthe exception of a few years when his family lived in Washington, before returning to Minnesota. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1958.
On February 2, 1977, Frank married the love of his life, Bev, and together they raised a family of six children, and it grew to 21 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren which he loved dearly.
Frank started out as a journeyman in the HVAC business for 30 years. He then moved into the satellite business with Prime Star in the early’90s in Minnesota, eventually owning his own satellite business in Berea, Kentucky. He ended his satellite career in Spirit Lake. Later in life, as he slowed down, he became a handyman. He was well known asa “Jack of all trades”
In his free time, he enjoyed restoring and rebuilding antique cars. Really, he loved all facets of the automobile industry. He owned multiple classic cars in his lifetime. The most recent ones were a’66 GTO and a’57 Chevy.
We believe he would want to be remembered for his unwavering faith and witnessing to everyone he met. It was of upmost importance to him to have everyone know the Lord and have the opportunity to be saved.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife Bev of 46 years. He is also survived by his son, Todd Thompson of Eau Claire, WI; d aughter, Lori Thompson Cummings (Steve) of Mitchellville, IA; son, Tim (Michelle) Thompson of Berea, KY; son, John(Jessica)Thompson of Dunedin, FL; son, Clayton Thompson of Elkton, SD; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister, Marjorie Lang of Glenwood MN; b rother, Doug Thompson of Alexandria, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christine Thompson Wheeler; sister, Donna Hahn; b rother-in-law, Lew Hahn and b rother-in-law, Ralph Lang.
