Gordon E. “Gordy” Graves, 82, of Arnolds Park, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service time at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place at a later date in the Okoboji View Cemetery in Arnolds Park. Arrangements are under the direction of the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Gordy was born on February 26, 1937, in Arnolds Park to Harvey and LaVerne (Pugh) Graves. He graduated from Arnolds Park High School and attended the University of Iowa, later transferring to and graduating from Buena Vista College with a degree in Business. He was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Bair on December 27, 1958, in Storm Lake. Gordy worked various jobs in data process during the beginning of the information technology era, retiring as a Data Processing Manager for Newton Manufacturing.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford and was a past member of the Elks and Izaak Walton League. In his free time Gordy enjoyed travel, casino trips, golf, card games (cribbage master) and time with family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Pat Graves of Arnolds Park, sons Charles (Karen) Graves of Maplewood, MN; David (Cynthia) Graves of West Des Moines, IA; Thomas (Cheryl) Graves of Sun Prairie, WI; and Robert (Kathleen) Graves of Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren Gregory (Nina); Jeffrey (MaKenna); Alison, Alexander, Benjamin, Mallory, Nathan, Elenore and Henry; great grandchildren Parker, Adalee, Gentry, and his cousin Ronne (Kristy) Walker of Arnolds Park.
