Memorial services for Charles “Chuck” Tielbur were held Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Harbor of Joy Lutheran Church, Milford, Iowa, with Pastor Tim Voth officiating. The Milford Fire Dept presented “Striking the Four Fives” and Military services were performed by Milford American Legion Post #384 accompanied by 2 Grandsons Zac & Isaac.. Interment at Riverside Columbarium in Spencer, Iowa; Warner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.warnerfuneralhome.com.
Charles Laverne “Chuck” Tielbur, son of Frank Sr. and Anabel (Jones) was born on the family farm in Clay County, IA, on July 14, 1934. He received his early education at Cornell Consolidated School in Clay County, graduating in 1951. In 1953, he joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea until 1955 when he was honorably discharged.
Chuck was united in marriage to Donna Christensen June 29, 1959 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, IA. Chuck was a member of First Lutheran and Harbor of Joy Lutheran Church in Milford. He served on the Church council for several years. Chuck managed Skelgas Propane Plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for 6 years before returning to Milford. He worked and managed Milford, Arnolds Park and Terril for Peoples Natural Gas (35 yrs) which is now Black Hills Energy. He dedicated many years to the community by serving on the Milford Fire Department for 17 years, which included the position of Assistant Fire Chief, Milford American Legion Post #384, and Kiwanis.
He passed away on July 23, 2023, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frank Tielbur, Jr.; brother-in-law, Darrel Madson; nephews, Mike Tielbur and Jeff Madson.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Donna of Milford, IA; his daughter, Brenda (Mark) Sedlmayr of Afton, IA; his son, Brad of Aurora, CO; four grandchildren: Zacary (Elizabeth) Sedlmayr of Afton, IA; Isaac (Alisha) Sedlmayr of Elgin, IA; Kirsten and Jadyn Tielbur of Aurora, CO; one great-granddaughter, Zayla Sedlmayr; one sister, Carole Madson of Spencer, IA; one brother, Jerry (Jonette) Tielbur of Spencer, IA; many other beloved relatives and many, many friends.
