A Mass of Christian Burial for Curtis Rottunda, age 82, of Spirit Lake, was held on Monday June 29, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Burial was at St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
Curtis (Curt) Dean Rottunda, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Dunaway) Rottunda, was born February 7, 1944, in Spencer, Iowa. Curt grew up in rural Clay County, Iowa, and graduated from Lake Center High School in 1961. After graduation, he worked for the family farm and for Spencer Packing Co.
He met and married Diane Marie Pixler on July 11, 1964, making their home in Spencer, Iowa. In 1967, the family moved to Spirit Lake. Curt worked for Alliant Energy for thirty-two years, retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and family, hunting and fishing and was a proud member of the Spirit Lake Fire Department for twenty-three years.
Curt passed away June 22, 2026, at his home in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at eighty-two years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Curt is survived by his wife, Diane Rottunda; two children, Jacki (Harry) Malott and Kris (Steve) Sweeten; two grandchildren, Kayla (Logan) Rutherford and Ally Malott; and one sister, Linda Mifflin.
Arrangements are under the care of Turner Jenness Funeral Home.
