Bruce Wayne Christoffer, age 57, of Superior passed away on Monday August 3, 2020, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. Bruce showed a lot of strength and determination to pull through many health set backs and always left his doctors in amazement at the many obstacles he did conquer. Private family services were held on Friday at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
Bruce Wayne Christoffer, the son of Robert and Mavis (Coyer) Christoffer, was born on December 25, 1962, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. On September 29, 1984, Bruce was united in marriage with Shari Lyn Hilliard at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Bruce served for a brief time in the U. S. Air Force. He had worked at Ferguson Manufacturing before owning and operating B.C. Construction, Certainy Auto and Excel Marine with his son, Jacob. Bruce was very handy with computers, cars, construction and outboard motors. He enjoyed helping people and was instrumental in the start of the Rescue in Superior and volunteered with the Fire Department prior to that. Bruce was honored as Dickinson County EMS Person of the year in 1996 for his volunteerism.

Bruce, also enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching movies and spending time with his family. Bruce had a true soft spot for Rescue/Shelter dogs. He dearly loved and took great pride in giving them a fur-ever home: King, Rage, Rebel, Trigger, Sammy-Face, Legend and Buddy aka: Bud-Bud.

Bruce was granted a very special Gift of Life on 09-21-2009 of a heart for which he had always had a strong gratitude and appreciation for Elisa, his donor. Bruce is now able to fulfill his own final wishes of being a donor himself, so that two people will now have the Gift of Sight with his corneas.

Bruce was a selfless, loving and caring husband, father and son even with his last breath. Left to cherish Bruce’s memory is his wife of 35 plus years, Shari; a son, Jacob Christoffer and his significant other Justina Waterman and her daughter, Jaellynn; mother, Mavis Christoffer of Spirit Lake; a sister, Vicki Christoffer of Spirit Lake; and a special niece, Myia (Jay) Oberholser-Carney of Milford. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Christoffer and an infant son, Jared Robert Christoffer.
