Austin “Mac” MacMillan, 71, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his home in Spirit Lake.

Austin, better known by his friends as Mac, was born on January 19, 1952, to Elton and Jessie (Parker) MacMillan in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he returned home. He later met Susan Frost and they were married in 1973. Mac spent the majority of life in the landscaping business.
In his free time, he collected knives, coins, gold, and silver were just a few of many things he enjoyed collecting. He also took great pride in landscaping his own home and tending to the yard. He enjoyed growing a garden every year. He enjoyed taking great care of the many cars he owned over the years. He loved to study the weather.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Susan MacMillan of Spirit Lake; son, Ben MacMillan and his fiancée, Kareen Parchment of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Kaanen MacMillan and Krishanua Allen; and his sister, Gail (Bob) Commons.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
