Thomas “Tom” Michael Brodie, 70, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021, at his home in Arnolds Park, Iowa.
Tom was born January 9th, 1951, in LeMars, the son of Gordon and Margaret Elizabeth “Bettie” (Gearhart) Brodie. He was raised on a farm near Merrill, where he was always a helping hand while learning to farm from his grandfather Charlie and his father. He graduated from LeMars Community High school in 1969. He attended the University of South Dakota, a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, transferring and graduating from Westmar College in 1973. Tom married Fran Meis on December 28th, 1972. Spending his career in pharmaceuticals, Tom worked for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, IN, in various positions; sales supervisor of the Northeast U.S., new product planning associate U.K., and marketing professional and team leader in U.S. Diabetes Brand Marketing. After a career with Eli Lilly, Tom went on to privately consult for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals as a diabetes marketing advisor and later became director of sales and marketing for PromoLogics Inc. Tom was an active member of Rotary International, having served as President of the Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club, and took great pride in resurrecting the foreign student exchange program that touched many lives. He had been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake.
He is survived by his sons, Geoffrey (Elisa) and Andrew; sisters, Barb Gearke, Ann Failing, and Meg Ideker; and granddaughters, Josephine and Juliana Brodie.
