Terry “Pete” Sidles, 75, of Spirit Lake, passed away September 23, 2024, at his home.
Pete’s last wish was to ride around the track one more time on Thursday, October 3rd. His final lap will commence at 5:30 PM at the Jackson Motorplex. If you would like to help fund his sponsorship next year, there will be a separate donation bin at the track and for $20 you can ride along.
A visitation for Pete will be on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A graveside service will be on Saturday, October 5th, at 2:00 PM, at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville. Following the interment, a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Kuhlman’s Welding Shop (239 252nd Ave. Spirit Lake).
Pete’s family encourages anyone attending these events to please wear racing shirts or casual clothes.
Terry “Pete” Sidles, the son of Dick and Gladys Sidles, was born on January 10, 1949, in Estherville, Iowa. On April 11, 1970, Terry was married to Roxanne Dean. They lived in Pocahontas and Emmetsburg before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa. Terry worked at the John Morrell packing plant in Estherville, Mcquays and Crystal Tips of Spirit Lake, Smiths RV of Okoboji and Laser car wash in Milford.
Terry is survived by his wife, Roxanne Sidles; three children, Dawn (Kevin) Kuhlman, Troy Sidles and Justin Sidles, all of Spirit Lake; four grandchildren that he dearly loved, Brock Moffitt of Des Moines, Luke and Tristin Sidles of Spirit Lake and Camy Sidles of Spencer.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Gladys Sidles; brother, Arvin and sister-in-law, Lorraine Sidles; brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Alice; brother-in-law, Joe Naig; nephew, Reggie Sidles; great-nephew, Ryan Sidles.
