Sherry Hartwig Easterlin, 77, of Hilton Head Island, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 16, 2024. She was born on December 27, 1946, to Edwin Carl Hartwig and Audrey Versluis in Lake Park, Iowa.
After graduating from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, she met her husband Ray Easterlin. They moved to Hilton Head Island in 1975 where they raised their two children. Sherry helped Ray run their development business, Heritage Properties. She also worked as a college guidance coordinator at Hilton Head Preparatory School, which was the highlight of her career, along with raising her children.
Sherry was very involved in the Hilton Head community including the Women’s Association of Hilton Head Island, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, National and Southern Associations for College Admissions Counseling and the Parent’s Association of Hilton Head Preparatory School.
Sherry loved walking on the beach, riding her bike through Sea Pines, hosting parties, dog sitting and especially loved being a grandmother to her three granddaughters.
Sherry is survived by her two children, Lindsey (Archer) Crose of Hilton Head Island and Travis (Katie) Easterlin of Savannah, GA; 3 granddaughters, Lucy Lawton Crose, Patchin Ash Crose and Mary Amelia Easterlin; brother, Ronny Hartwig of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and her former husband, Ray Easterlin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Randy Lee Hartwig.
A private celebration of life will be held.
