Robert “Bob” Burley, 83, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.
A visitation for Bob will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Bob was born on May 4, 1939, to Lowell and Wilma (Spencer) Burley in Nevada, IA. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army to serve his country. When he returned home, he was united in marriage to Sharon Lewis in January of 1967. To this union two children were born, Jill and Sheree.
Bob worked as a Greens Keeper for golf courses. He first worked for Okoboji View Golf Course, and then moved to Des Moines where he worked at Woodside Golf Course. He also managed for a short time the Storm Lake and Newell Airports properties. He also ran his own landscaping business called Greenwood Landscaping.
In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing out of his boat and ice fishing for walleye and perch.
He is survived by his daughter Sheree (Brad) Sanderson of Spirit Lake; grandchildren Beau Burley, Alec CaQuelin, Jordyn CaQuelin-Duis, Emjae Fisbeck, and Dayne Fisbeck; great grandchildren Evelyn Duis, and Baylor Duis; sisters Charlotte (Merle) Hurd of Spirit Lake; Sandy Goetsch of Spirit Lake; and Jody (Mike) Sporer of Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jill Fisbeck, brother-in-law Wayne Goetsch, nieces and nephews Randy Hurd, Linda Hurd, Bobby Hurd and Shane Duhn.
