Randy Loerch, 62, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
A Celebration of Life for Randy will be held, at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Sami Bedell Center, located at the Spirit High School Campus. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Timpe Post #23 and the VFW John W. Kidd Post #4514 both of Spirit Lake. Memorials may be made in Randy’s name and sent to the Spirit Lake Community Schools Foundation, which will benefit students going into the trades. Randy was born on May 25, 1961, to Roger Lee and Dolores (Dickson) Loerch in Blair, NE. He graduated from Manson High School. After graduation, he served his country in the US Navy. After his honorable discharge, he attended Grandview Business School. Randy’s main occupation was the Property and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor for Spirit Lake Schools, but those who knew him, knew that his second job was helping those who called him and asked for help with a project.
Randy was a proud member of the Snow Hawks and looked forward to every winter when he could ride the trails on his snowmobile. He also enjoyed in his free time, riding his motorcycle, ice fishing, golfing and playing in pool league with his buddies.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Annette Loerch of Fort Dodge, IA and Kaymie (Joe) Lau of Fort Dodge, IA; sisters, Deb Loerch (Jim Meredith) of Okoboji; and Kathy (David) Tjernagel of Bondurant, IA; 3 grandchildren and 4 nephews and their families that loved spending time with Papa, Uncle Randy.
