He was predeceased by his father, Thorvald Severtson; mother, Mildred (Shurgart) Minor; and his stepfather, Herbert Minor.
Phillip was born on June 1, 1947, to Thorvald Severtson and Mildred (Shugart) Severtson. He graduated from Mankato State College in March 1972 and worked as a Sales Professional throughout most of his career. Phillip married DeeAnn Wallin in 1970. On April 3, 1973, and November 13, 1976, he welcomed his children who were the most important part of his life.
Phillip was a devoted father and grandparent. He was an excellent athlete and enjoyed snow skiing, racquetball, fishing and biking. Phillip loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and never missed a game. He was a strong believer in politics and rarely missed an opportunity to offer his opinion. Phillip never failed to help anyone in need and did everything possible to ensure his children always came first. There was nothing that made Phillip happier than attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Phillip NEVER missed a single game. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.
