Patricia “Pat” Forbes, 78, of Lake Park, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024 in Centerville, South Dakota. Born on April 21, 1946, in Sibley, Iowa, to George and Eunice Nebelsick, Pat grew up with a deep love for her family, friends, and community.
Pat graduated from Harris-Lake Park High School in 1964 and soon after married her sweetheart, Doug Forbes, on February 10, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her warmth and kindness were evident to everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Pat spent her career as a dedicated housewife, mother and co-owner of Forbes House Moving. After retiring, she devoted her time to her true passions: her family, friends, golf and beloved Iowa Hawkeyes.
Pat will be lovingly remembered by her children, JoAnn (Mike) Kunkel of New Orleans, LA and Jason (Lynne) Forbes of Sioux Falls, SD; her cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Jack, Savannah, Tristan and Aurora; her brothers and sisters, Clif Nebelsick of Coralville, IA, Joyce Schwartz of Spirit Lake, IA, Calvin Nebelsick of Lake Park, IA, Marilee Nebelsick-Tagg (John) of Encinitas, CA, Paula McKenna (Ken) of Oxford, IA, Keith Nebelsick (Sue) of Spirit Lake, IA and Janet Hansen (Bill) of Shakopee, MN, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Pat’s spirit, love for her family, and commitment to her community will be deeply missed. In her memory in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Silver Lake Country Club Building Fund or a charity of your choice in her honor.
Rest in peace, Pat, knowing that your kindness and love will continue to ripple through the lives you touched.
