Norma “Peggy” Jean Egertson, 92, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Aspire Care Center of Estherville in Estherville, Iowa.
Services for Peggy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Norma “Peggy” Jean Egertson was born on March 3, 1932, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Russell and Marian (Johnson) Smith. She graduated from high school in 1950. She was united in marriage to Robert Klein on October 27, 1950. To this union 2 children were born, Konnie and Stephen. Robert preceded her in death. She was later united in marriage to Vernon Egertson on April 30, 1977. He also preceded Peggy in death. She worked the majority of her life as a secretary for The State Bank in Spirit Lake and Dickinson County Mutual. She also worked at Home Instead, caring for the residents.
In her free time, Peggy volunteered her time as Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother, and was active in her church. She enjoyed playing bridge and many other card games. She was also an accomplished seamstress.
She is survived by her daughter,Konnie Sue (Steven) Klein Egertson of Pacific, MO; son, Stephen (Cindy) Klein of Forest Grove, OR; grandchildren, Kylee Reynolds of Auburn, IL; Kellee (Kyle) Speck of Fenton, MO; Katelyn (Cole) Evans of Sheridan, WY; Dustin Klein of Bosie, ID; 5 great grandchildren, Gage, Ivyee, Kymberlee Reynolds and Cameron and Lennon Evans; sister,Janice Brugman of Solon, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, brothers Jim Smith, Roger Smith and David Smith and a sister,Pat Smith Seaton.
Peggy’s children would like to thank their cousin, Carol Kay Pluth of Estherville, for her compassionate care and endearing love of their mother.
Memorials may be given to St. Croix Hospice in Peggy’s name and sent to St. Croix Hospice, 1015 S. Grand Ave., Spencer, IA 51301.
