Funeral Service for Norma Clark, age 94, of Lakefield, was held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Lakefield.
Norma Jean LaLone Clark was born March 25, 1930, east of Dunlap, Iowa, to Harvey and Alice (Stuhr) LaLone. Her sister, Ardith, was born 19 months later and 5 years later her brother, John, arrived. Norma’s mother passed away when John was 3 weeks old.
Norma graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1948. After graduating, she worked at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Spirit Lake, from May 1948 to 1952.
She married Wayne Clark on September 24, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Wayne left for the Navy on January 9, 1951. Wayne was stationed in Alameda, California. After 17 months in the South Pacific, Wayne came to take Norma to California. She lived in California two different times, six months the first and over a year the second time when they had their first child, Larry, in 1953. Wayne and Norma welcomed four more children: Beverly (1955), Keith (1957), Diane (1959), and Joy Alice (1966). The family moved to Lakefield in 1955 where Norma lived until her passing on July 27, 2024.
Norma belonged to the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake and later Lakefield United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary in Lakefield.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wayne Clark; parents, Alice Stuhr LaLone and Harvey LaLone; stepmother, Beatrice Swain LaLone; sister, Ardith LaLone Cohrs and brother-in-law, Bernard Cohrs; nephew, Jay Cohrs; niece, Kathy Cohrs; grandparents, William and Maude LaLone as well as John and Elise Stuhr; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Norma is survived by her five children: Larry (Linda) Clark, Beverly (Murry) Ulferts, Keith (Kathy) Clark, Diane (David) Fisher; Joy (John) Mier; grandchildren: Dustin (Sheyanne) Clark, Collyn Clark, Mindy (Dan) Hendrickson, Matthew (Chrisy) Schubert, Adam (Jamie) Ulferts; Ashton Ulferts, Ryan (Natalie) Clark, Robin (Patrick) O’Reilly, Mike Fisher, Tara (Shane) Garloff, Tracy (Tom) Bosma, Shamrea Sangl, Danielle Sangl, Kyla (Matt) McGrauth; numerous great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and brother, John (Vivian) LaLone.
Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
