Nelda Mae Broocks, 85, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
A memorial service was be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Nelda was born on December 7, 1935, to Ray and Minnie (Doss) Hall in Peterson, Iowa. She graduated from Peterson High School. She was united in marriage to Donald Duane Broocks on September 4, 1952, in Peterson, IA. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2005, in Lake Park, IA.
She worked as a waitress, at Cooks Hatchery, and for the Spirit Lake Drug Store. In her free time, she enjoyed yard work, planting and tending to her flowers, decorating her home, bowling and doing miscellaneous crafts. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake where she was a member of various women’s circles.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dayle Broocks of Spirit Lake; son, Richard Broocks of Spirit Lake; and grandson, Andrew (Renee) Broocks of North Liberty, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings.
