Nedra Ruth Keedy, formerly Nedra Scheerhoorn, 84, of Sanborn, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Keelson Harbour Memory Care in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

On March 2, 1940, Nedra was born to G. Herschel and Lillian E. (Templeman) Keedy in State Center, IA. Her family moved to Sanborn, Iowa, in 1958, where Nedra graduated from Sanborn Community School. After high school, she worked as a bank teller and a telephone operator.
Nedra was united in marriage to Jerry P. Scheerhoorn on January 14, 1963, in Sanborn. They raised four children on a farm near Sanborn. Nedra also was the owner/operator of the H&R Block in Sheldon, IA for 25+ years, where she loved talking to her clients and preparing their income tax returns. She was also a very hard-working farm wife, helping with hog production, walking beans, disking fields, mowing, and driving a huge tractor pulling grain-filled wagons to the local grain elevators.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was actively involved in the Miona Club, a community non-profit, in Sanborn. She was a Cub Scout Leader and helped with Girl Scouts. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, reading, traveling, attending family reunions, and researching the Keedy family genealogy.
Nedra is survived by her two daughters, Darcy Scheerhoorn of Lake Park, IA and Lori (Terry) Bootsma of Sanborn, IA; three sons, Bruce (Tara) Brown of Indianola, IA; Mark (Paula) Scheerhoorn of Nashua, NH; and Scot Scheerhoorn of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren, Kyle & Christopher Bootsma, Sara (Nick) Schilling, Kara & Kaitlyn Scheerhoorn,Melanie (Justin) Eyink, and Zach & Alexa Brown; 12 great-grandchildren; brother,Mark (Angela) Keedy of Colorado Springs, CO; brother-in-law, Ron (Kathy) Wade of St. Joseph, MO, and sister-in-law,Elaine (Thompson) Keedy of Chicago, IL; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cherished cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Nedra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother G. Curtis Keedy and sister Reta Jo (Keedy) Wade; grandson Aaron Scheerhoorn; sister-in-law Jean Lee (Scheerhoorn) Peterson; daughter-in-law Kathy (Smith) Scheerhoorn; parents-in-law Gradus & Jane (Bieser) Scheerhoorn; other beloved relatives and cherished friends.
