Nancy Ann Cook Goring, daughter of Elwood and Lucille (Nattress) Cook, was born on December 6, 1942, in Arnolds Park, Iowa. Nancy attended Excelsior Township School and graduated from Milford Community High School. After completing her education, Nancy worked at the County Assessors Office in Spirit Lake. Nancy lived in Milford, Iowa; Butterfield, Minnesota; Westbrook, Minnesota; and Windom, Minnesota. In 2012 Nancy moved in and lived with her daughter Keri until her death. Nancy lived with systemic lupus most of her life. Complications of the disease caused her to lose all of her right leg and below the knee on her left leg. She was wheelchair bound but loved life. She passed away on October 2, 2020,at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota,at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 26 days.
Nancy was baptized and confirmed at Excelsior Methodist Church. Later she sang in the Grace Lutheran Choir of Westbrook. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. When she could, she liked cross stitching, sci-fi movies, and mahjong. She loved pancakes and eating out with family. She had many cockatiels over the years and will be missed by her cat, Billie Bob. Nancy went through many trials, but she had a great outlook on life and was very high spirited. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her daughters: Keri (Byron) Buresch of Lakefield, MN; Lori Flewelling of Spirit Lake, IA; Ronda (Kevin) Darling of Lakefield, MN; and Kimberly (Mike) Lee of Glenville, MN; her 13 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren: brother Steve (Nancy) Cook of Worthington, MN; sister Janet (Ron) Kindwall of Spirit Lake, IA; her cat Billie Bob and her four cockatiels.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Elwood and Lucille.
