Michael “Mike” Range, 62, Oregon City, Oregon, originally from Milford, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February, 29, 2024, in Oregon City, surrounded by his family after a courageous eight year battle with a Pancreatic Tumor.
Michael Alan Range, son of L. Kirby and Barbara (Hoover) Range, was born July 7, 1961, in Spencer, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Milford High School in 1979.
Mike was united in marriage with Kendra Shafer, on July 7, 1984, in Storm Lake, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Danny and Nikki.
Mike worked for many years in recycling management which took him to CO, MN, CA, NE and OR. He had been working as a Regional Manager for Recycling Management in the Pacific Northwest for several years where they have lived since.
While Mike’s work has taken them to different states his true passion was with his family and friends where Mike and Kendra were active members of the Multnomah Channel Yacht Club. They loved the freedom of boating the Willamette River and Oregon Coast. They found a close camaraderie with the boating community and treasured the friendships they have acquired over the years.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 39 years, Kendra; two children, Danny (Megan) Range, and Nikki Range and her children, Luke and Zach; his parents, Kirby and Barb Range; three siblings, Kevin (Tina) Range, Lisa Johnson, Teresa (Tim) Bachman; brothers-in-law, Brice (Carolyn) Schafer; sister-in-law, Beverly Butterfield; several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents; a brother, DeLon Range; parents-in-law, Conrad and Gladys Shafer; brothers-in-law, Ken Schafer and John Butterfield; a nephew, Brandon Schafer.
Celebration of life will be held in Oregon this summer. The date and location to be announced.
