Merle Hurd, 89, of Spirit Lake passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his home in Spirit Lake.

Merle was born on August 11, 1935, in East Lake, MN, to Fred and Eva (Berry) Hurd. After his honorable discharge from the US Navy, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Burley on August 21, 1955.
He was employed by A&C Farms, John Morell, Packing Plant in Estherville and would mow several lawns in the lakes area. He later owned and operated Hurd Construction. In his free time, he and Charlotte would enjoy riding motorcycles and spending the last 25 years wintering in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hurd of Spirit Lake; daughters, Deb Coleman of Superior and Judi Parsons and her husband, John Willard of Lewisville, TX; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mothers- and fathers-law, sons Bob and Randy, daughter Linda, two brothers and one sister, and a great-grandson.
