Max E. Wells, 85 of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, in Hereford.
Max was born on July 10, 1934, to Nile and Ida (Omvig) Wells, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He married Sherry Hodge on July 15, 1962. He has been a resident of Hereford since 1975. Max worked and retired from Excel, holding a management position, after his retirement he worked for Panhandle Community Service as an inspector. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed designing and making unique, bird, houses. He loved horses and trained them while in Iowa; he was a bareback rider. He participated in and enjoyed Chuck Wagon races. Max always had a project going on. He enjoyed traveling, visiting family from California to northern Wisconsin.
Those left to cherish Max’s memories are his wife Sherry Wells of Hereford, Texas; two sons: Terry Wells of Los Angeles, California and Robb Wells and his wife Jeri of Hereford, Texas; two brothers: Robert Wells and wife Dolores of Des Moines, Iowa and Lynn Wells of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters: Ilene Delong of Torrance, California and Linda Wells of Glendale, Arizona; daughter-in-law Teresa Wells of Gulf Port, Mississippi; brother-in-law Richard (Ric) Hodge from Leona Valley, California; 6 grandchildren: Matthew, Marc, Molli and her husband Alan, Ryne and his wife Emily, Matty, and Robbyn; 4 great grandchildren: Kloie, Preslie, Jimmer and Peyton; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Peggy Wells, two sons: Rodney and Marc Wells; five brothers Walter, Horace, Nile Jr., Donald, and Gary; three sisters: Myrtle Geiser, Mary Free and Myrna Chaffin.
