A private family Celebration of Life Service for Marlene Stokka, age 80, of Milford, will be held Thursday, December 22, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
A memorial fund has been established with funds being given to Marlene’s favorite charities.
Marlene Frances Stokka, the daughter of Vernon and Elva (Anderson) Tripp, was born May 8, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduating high school, Marlene received her nursing degree at the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing.
On October 4, 1963, Marlene was married to Odne Stokka in Northfield, Minnesota. Marlene worked as a RN in various locations including St. Paul, Minnesota; Astoria, Oregon; Denison, Iowa, and Des Moines, Iowa, before moving to Estherville, Iowa, where she worked at Avera Holy Family for twenty-eight years.
Marlene enjoyed crocheting, quilting and loved to take care of others. She and her husband, Odne, also enjoyed their winters in Arizona.
Marlene passed away November 23, 2022, at Minnesota Health Fairview Ridges in Burnsville, Minnesota, at eighty years of age.
She is survived by her three daughters, Dawn (Pat) Malay, Elizabeth (Chuck) Borth and Catherine (Monte) Burrell; grandchildren, Josh Malay, Cory (Alison) Malay, Ashley (Brett) Marschall, John Malay, Marisa (Matt) Neiderhiser, Mollie (Max) Bergo, Abby Borth, Carly Borth, Ella Borth, Emily (Michael) O’Brien, Evan Burrell and Brennan Burrell; great-grandchildren, Mason Malay, Aubrey Malay, Addison Marschall and Quinn Malay; brothers, Mike Tripp, Jerry Tripp and Patrick Tripp.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Odne Stokka; parents, Vernon and Elva Tripp and sister, Marlys Heise.
