A Memorial Service for Lorraine Little, age 97, of Milford, was held on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Calvary United Methodist Church, in Arnolds Park. Memorials will be donated in Lorraine’s name to the Nature Center and the Dickinson County Museum.
Lorraine Virginia Wilson Little was born in Okoboji on February 14, 1926, to Fred and Lolamae (Heldridge) Wilson. She passed away February 15, 2023, at Accura Healthcare in Milford.
She graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1943.
Lorraine married Franklin Little on September 24, 1944, in Los Angeles, California.
She and Frank settled in Okoboji and raised three children: William (Bill) Leroy, Danny Craig, and Jill Diane.
While the children were small, she worked as bookkeeper for her father at Wilson Boat Works. With the kids in school, Lorraine went to work as the secretary to the superintendent at Arnolds Park School where she was employed for 22 years. She was then a part time librarian at the Arnolds Park Library, from 1987-2004.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Arnolds Park, the American Legion Auxiliary, Okoboji Women’s Club, Christian Women, and the AP Cemetery Society. She enjoyed baking, reading, and having coffee with her friends.
Upon retirement, she and Frankie traveled the U.S. by bus and cruised the Panama Canal and the inside passage to Alaska. She scrap booked all their adventures.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Danny (Mary) and daughter, Jill; granddaughters: Tracy (Gary) Hodge, Nicole Pflueger (Tim Meiers), and Kelly (Sam) Fisk; five great-grandchildren: Caleb Hodge, Miles Snow, Quentin, Beaudry, and Kit Fisk; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lola; husband, Franklin; son, Bill; and her sisters, Beverly and JoAnne.
Memorials will be donated in Lorraine’s name to the Nature Center and the Dickinson County Museum.
