A memorial service for Lois Silvey will be held at the Henry Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong, Iowa, at 1:00pm, on Monday, August 28, 2023, Vicar Kim Kacmarynski officiant. She will be interred at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong.
Lois Silvey, a long-term resident of Armstrong and the Iowa Great Lakes region, passed away on June 20, 2023, at the age of 94. The last few years, Lois was living in Georgia with her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Tom Parham, and her two granddaughters, Andrea and Liliana. Although she was separated by many miles, she always missed and spoke fondly of her many friends back home in the Armstrong and Iowa Lakes region.

Lois was born in Manson, Iowa, on August 20, 1928, to Albert and Fern (Norris) Glasco.
She graduated from Plover High School and attended Morningside College and the University of South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Donald Silvey on October 1, 1950, in Plover, Iowa. She taught school in Terril, Plover, Ringsted, and Armstrong and resided in Orange City, Cleghorn, and Armstrong where Don was Superintendent of Schools for 26 years. After Don’s retirement, they lived at Pelican Ridge in Milford, IA.
Lois was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong and the Junior Choir Director for many years. She was also an associate member of First Lutheran Church in Milford, IA. Lois was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years and a member of the Federated Women’s Club.
Lois Silvey was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, her sister Helen Henderson and husband Wayne, and one niece. In addition to Lois’ daughter and family in Georgia, left to cherish Lois’ memory are Don’s brother Kenneth and his wife Margaret Silvey and their children,Mike Silvey and Cheryl Silvey Healy. Also, there are Lois’ sister’s children Marsha Henderson Thompson, Burton Henderson and Shannon Henderson, multiple nieces and nephews and many dear friends in the Iowa Lakes region.
