A funeral service for Lloyd Kruse, age 89, of Okoboji and Lakefield, Minnesota, will be held 2:30 pm,  Monday, May 6, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota.  Visitation will be on Sunday, May 5, 2024, beginning at 2 pm, with the family present from 2-4 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Lloyd Charles Kruse, son of Emil and Ella Kruse, was born April 29, 1934, in Lakefield, Minnesota. His family moved to Okabena, Minnesota, where Lloyd graduated from high school. Lloyd married Verda Janssen on May 6, 1954, upon completing his service in the Army. The couple resided in Okabena until relocating to Lakefield in 1963. Lloyd married Joy Jass on September 5, 1998, after the passing of their spouses. The couple resided in Okoboji, Iowa, and wintered in Sun Lakes, Arizona. They were members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield.

Lloyd was involved in several businesses throughout his life: Hugo Schultz-Kruse Paving, the Hi-Lo Club, Crescent Beach, K and S Construction, J and K Construction, and Valleybrook Golf Course. At the time of his passing, he owned and operated L.C. Kruse and Sons, Inc. and managed his land and gravel pits.

Lloyd enjoyed entertaining, hunting, golfing, boating and attending and cheering on the Gophers with his wife Joy.

Lloyd passed away April 13, 2024, in Chandler, Arizona, at the age of 89. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Joy, of Okoboji; son, Darrin, of Spirit Lake; stepdaughters, Jodi (Tom) Tessman and Marni Storey; grandchildren, Maxwell Kruse, Jaden (Austin) Mears, Zachary Kruse, Peyton Tessman, Amara Monson, Jackson Tessman and Teagan Simon-Selander; great-grandchildren, Crew and Rex Mears and Avia Tessman; brothers, James (Mazie) and Ronald Kruse; sister-in-law, Carolyn Kruse; nieces and nephews; numerous friends; and Butchie IV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Ella; first wife ,Verda; son, Richard; sister, Elinore Groff; brother, Marvin Kruse; and sister-in-law, Olive Kruse.
