A Funeral Service for Leslie Krause, age 82, of Milford, was held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Interment was at the LuVerne Cemetery in LuVerne, Iowa.
Leslie Ann (Zinnel) Krause was born on January 9, 1944, to the proud parents of Edna (Hansen) and Edward Zinnel on the farm by Ottosen, Iowa.
After graduating from Twin Rivers High School in 1962, Leslie worked various jobs in the Ottosen area. She met Richard Wayne Krause and was united in marriage on April 4, 1964, in West Bend, Iowa. The couple lived in LuVerne, Hardy, Clarion, and Ocheyedan, Iowa, and moved to Milford, Iowa, in 1990.
Leslie was a stay-at-home mom raising five children, maintaining a home, and assisting her husband with farming. Leslie volunteered her time and was very active in church activities: Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible study, and Ladies Aid. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Leslie was also a leader for Boy Scouts and was president of Humboldt County Porkettes.
Leslie worked various places from farrow to finish hog buildings, floral shop, convenience store, Sathers Candy Company and eventually, working at Polaris where she retired after 15 years on April 1, 2010.
Leslie was a hard worker. She had a generous, kind spirit touching many lives. Leslie enjoyed cooking and baking sweet treats, such as cookies that she shared with her grandchildren, filling their containers whenever they returned them. Leslie was also known for her amazing potato salad, and pies. Leslie was always willing to share a recipe, although she didn’t always follow a recipe and just measured with her heart. Leslie also enjoyed decorating for every holiday, crafting, sewing, making many baby burp cloths and blankets. She loved watching the Hallmark channel, feeding the birds and squirrels and spending time with friends and family.
Leslie went to her glorious eternal home at the age of 82 on October 15, 2026, after a short stay at St. Luke’s nursing home in Spencer.
She is survived by her children, Shelly Bevard of Indianola, Iowa; Shawnna Krause of Sibley, Iowa; Torrey (Kim) Krause of Everly, Iowa; Shanise Brockshus of Beaverdale, Iowa; and Shanelle (Dan) Matus of Sheldon, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Chelsey Krause, Celena Bevard, Sydney Krause, Kristie Nielsen, Deanna Huberg, Latosha Burger, Brandon Brockshus, Steven Brockshus, Andrew Brockshus, Dylan Brockshus, Todd Helmers, Trista Kavanagh, Tamsyn Matus, and Anthony Lucas; twenty-one great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; sister Muriel Jacobson; sister by heart Marie Balk; and many nieces and nephews.
Leslie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Krause; parents, Edna and Edward Zinnel; brother-in-law Louis Jacobson; grandson Josh Burger and great-grandson Braden Huberg.
Arrangements are under the care of Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
