Laima Stammer, 73, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake, surrounded by her husband and all her children.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Laima Elsa Stammer was born on March 23, 1952, to Leonard Edgar and Mirdza Lizette (Jurjuris) Vilson in Saginaw, MI. She graduated from Cooper High School in Minneapolis, MN. She furthered her education by taking classes in Law and Accounting in College. Laima started working as a secretary for an Admiral in the US Navy. She was united in marriage to Larry Stammer on July 12, 1975, in Brooklyn Center, MN. Laima then began working as a secretary for Gruys, Johnson and Associates in the accounting department. She then partnered with her husband in the family business, L&L Construction. She then worked for Real-estate Development Inc. She later worked on the assembly line at Polaris in Spirit Lake. Laima considered raising her four children her greatest accomplishment.
She was a member of the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed working with and creating stained glass artwork. She also enjoyed gardening, tending the flower garden, remodeling and decorating, and she enjoyed taking road trips with her husband to the casino and various road trips.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Larry Stammer of Spirit Lake; children, Staci Ann (Stammer) Schmaus of Estherville, IA; Andra (Walt) Heldenbrand of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, Dawn Stammer-Teschendorf of Annandale, MN; and Benjamin Louis Stammer of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Ivy Leigh (Sam) Marsnik, Brennan Everett Nyren, Lia Marie Stammer, Abrianna Ann (Royce) Coakley, Alyssa Lorraine Schmaus, Ian Teschendorf, great grandchild Vienna Louise Marsnik; sister Mara Kerns of Buffalo, MN; and her brother Arnie (Lori) Vilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Scott Louis Stammer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made in Laima’s name and sent to St. Jude’s or the Shriners Children Hospital.
