Kenneth “Ken” D. Rimmer, 99, of Milford, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at his home in Milford. A memorial service for Ken will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Military funeral honors will follow the service presented by the American Legion Timpe Post#23 and VFW John W. Kidd Post #4514 both of Spirit Lake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The burial will be held at a later date in the cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa. Ken was born on November 12, 1923, in Kingsley, Iowa, to Matthew and Pearl (Summers) Rimmer. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1941. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country during World War II from 1943 – 1945. After he was honorably discharged, he returned home and was united in marriage to Hope Funkhouser on April 10, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa. Ken spent most of his career farming. He and Hope had their own retail business with Montgomery Ward and JC Penney that they ran for several years. Ken was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Spirit Lake. He attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. In his free time, Ken enjoyed woodworking, keeping his yard in pristine condition and spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 77 years, Hope Rimmer of Milford; son, Keith (Kathy) Rimmer of Lake Park; daughter, Regena “Gena” Treganza of Boone, IA; six grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters.
