A funeral service for June Lockey, 92, of Milford, will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Faith Community Church in Milford. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will take place 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
June Luella, daughter of Howard and Ione (Hughes) Roetman, was born June 2, 1933, in Lake Park, Iowa. She lived her youth there and attended all 12 years of school there. She was on the girls basketball team and graduated with the Class of 1950.
On March 3, 1951, June married Gordon Lockey in Spencer, Iowa. They later moved to Milford and lived for 56 years in their home there where they raised their five children. June’s greatest joy was being a mother, raising her children and attending the different activities that they were involved in at school. They gave her much to cheer about as all five children were very active in sports – football, wrestling, basketball, track, baseball, and cheerleading. Her love of sports continued through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also followed sports on the radio, television, and the computer. June enjoyed flowers, gardening, puzzles, and playing card games with family and friends. She and Gordon liked to travel and took their family on camping trips. Later in life, they enjoyed bus trips. June was dedicated to her family and enjoyed every moment she spent with them. She was a member of Union Memorial Church, now Faith Community Church in Milford.
June peacefully passed away on July 9, 2025, at Stonebridge Suites of Milford at the age of 92. Her body was worn out from a hardworking, caring, loving, fun-filled, wonderful life. Left to celebrate her life are her children: Rodney (Kathy) Lockey, Tracy (Loni) Brant, Mark (MaryAnn) Lockey, and Craig (Debra) Lockey; grandchildren, Stacey Lockey, Joshua (Kellie) Lockey, Matthew (Angie) Lockey, Ben (Amy) Brant, Shane (Tess) Brant, Mandy (Josh) Kruse, Megan Lockey, Marlee (Ryan) Christoffel, Mason (Vanessa) Lockey, Ashley (Johnny) Petievich, and Melissa (Alex Ahders) Lockey; and great-grandchildren, Kourtney (Andrew), Chelsey (Caleb), Cole, Casie, Nico, Easton, Riley, Kyah, Kaylee, Kendall, Ali, Kenzie, Maycee, Hunter, Cade, Brenna, Alexia, Macie, Lainey, and Quinn.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ione Roetman; husband, Gordon Lockey; daughter, Alisa Lockey; brothers, Everett, John, and Richard Roetman; sisters, Betty Meyer and Bonnie Raynor; as well as many in-laws.
