Private family services will be held at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake for John Kent Lago, age 60, of Omaha, Nebraska. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
John Kent Lago was born Friday, December 28, 1964 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the third child of four children to Donald Raymond & Phyllis Ann Lago. He entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska.
He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1983 and then pursued Financial Studies at Morningside University, graduating in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics: Dean’s List and National Dean’s List. He thereafter applied his knowledge, skills, and abilities in prominent business leadership and development roles as Senior Vice President and Partner/Managing Director positions that reflected his financial skills and deep understanding of not only business operations, but also his relentless pursuit for employee and customer satisfaction & advancement. He made an instant impact on everyone whom he met and was admired for doing what was right for those he came in contact with. He was known for his warm smile and genuine nature. Whether offering a compliment or support, John had an uncanny ability & passion to make others feel good about themselves.
John was a gifted athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast. He was tenacious in his enthusiasm & support of his daughters’ and his grandsons’ sporting achievements.
John had an unending love for animals and pets throughout his life growing up on the Montgomery, Iowa, family farm.
He is survived by his beloved daughters – Morgan Magni (Brandon) and Madison Lago; grandchildren – Easton & Braxton Magni; and sister – Nancy Reiman; and brothers – Larry Lago (Marcie) & Douglas Lago (Amy). John fiercely loved his family and will remain the brightest light in their lives as he now lives in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents – Donald & Phyllis Lago, as well as his grandparents – Herbert & Bertha Fronk and Jeff & Ethal Lago, and brother-in-law, Dave Reiman.
