Elizabeth Graham, 92, passed away peacefully August 13, 2024. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the United Methodist Church, 102 South 8th Street, Estherville, Iowa. Viewing was with the service with Pastor Kathy Kluis, officiating.
Elizabeth was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Pearl Scott Carter and Elsie Elizabeth (Buss) Carter. She grew up in Newell, Iowa, where she attended and graduated from Newell High School. Elizabeth continued her education at Buena Vista College, graduating with a degree in Education. It is there where she met her husband, John Graham. John and Elizabeth were married in 1953.
Elizabeth started her career teaching in the Terril, Iowa, school district continuing teaching in Crystal Lake and Exira school systems. She was active in church, playing organ and piano, singing in the church choirs, and teaching Sunday School. She worked as a clerk in the Ben Franklin store in Estherville for several years, ending her work careers as a teacher’s aide for Lincoln Central school in Gruver.
Elizabeth was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters, Margarite, and Mary Ann (Carter) Gaffey; brothers, Paul, Mark and David Carter. She is survived by her brother, Daniel Carter, and wife Beverly (Susie) Carter; son, James, and wife Susan Kuecker; daughter, Mary Graham; son, Dr. Jeffery Graham and wife Amy; granddaughters, Erin Graham, Allison Graham and husband Minwoo Cho; grandson, Eric Graham and great-grandson, Eric Graham II, as well as many nieces and nephews.
