A funeral service for Elaine Morphew, 96, of Lake Park, was held Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Lake Park Methodist Church. Burial was at Silver Lake Cemetery.
Elaine Morphew, 96, of Lake Park, Iowa, passed away June 30, 2024, in her home.
Elaine was born April 16, 1928, in Crofton, Nebraska, on the family farm, to Delbert Jaycox and Mary (Jungclaus) Jaycox. Elaine was the youngest of eleven children. The family moved to Iowa when Elaine was thirteen. She attended Milford Elementary School and graduated from Excelsior High School.
She was united in marriage to Dalton Morphew on November 14, 1948, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The couple made their home in Lake Park, Iowa, where they raised their family. The family farmed and Elaine was employed as a bookkeeper for many years.
Elaine attended the United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Methodist Women’s group. She was a 4-H and Cub Scout leader. Elaine was involved in and organized Senior Dining at the Lake Park Community Center. She enjoyed socializing, playing cards, reading and doing puzzles.
Elaine loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Rick Morphew and his wife, Tammy, of Oakland, Nebraska; Kenneth Morphew of Armstrong; Tamie Egge and her husband, Bob, of Heron Lake, Minnesota; and Trent Morphew and his wife, Darcy, of Hartley, Iowa; eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dally; her parents, ten brothers and sisters, one daughter-in-law and many family members.
Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
