Duane Serck, 77, of Spirit Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in Spencer, Iowa.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Duane Henry Serck was born on January 6, 1946, in Canton, SD, to Elmer and Gladys (Menage) Serck. He graduated from high school in Lake Park, IA. After graduation, he enlisted in the US National Guard. Duane owned and operated Duane’s Repair in Spirit Lake for over 40 years. After he retired and closed down his shop, he started driving truck for Resch Farms. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Thiesen in 1967. To this union, three children were born.
Duane enjoyed volunteering his free time to the Superior Fire Department. He also enjoyed collecting guns and was a member of the Motto Guzzi Club.
He is survived by his children, Paul (Ricci) Serck of Norwalk, IA; Sheila Pirela of Conroe, TX; and Amy Serck of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Nicholas Serck, Adam Serck and William Pirela; a brother Doug Serck of Rural Lake Park, IA; sisters, Diane (Delmer) Christoffer of Spirit Lake, IA; JoAnn (Dick) Larson of Spirit Lake, IA and Cathy (Jim) Mayer of Spirit Lake, IA; and his companion Ellen Essick of Spencer, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
