Donald E. Bierstedt, 95, of Milford, formerly of Fonda, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Milford.
A visitation will be held, from 4-6 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m., at the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Burial will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda, IA, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. He was born on June 6, 1929, in Lone Rock, IA, to Nina and Raymond Bierstedt. Don graduated from Lone Rock High School. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Elbert on November 28, 1950, in Algona at Cecelia’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with five children, Donna, Raymond, Debra, Denise, and Rick.
After high school, Don farmed and worked for the county road maintenance. He continued his love for baseball and played on several leagues.
Don worked most of his life in the Implement Business coming to Fonda in August of 1960. He owned the Fonda Implement Store until 1985. Don and Marilyn retired to Milford in 2000. Don enjoyed fishing, boating, and especially spending time with his family.
Don is survived by three children, Debra (Roger) Holtorf, Denise (Paul) Hirneise, and Rick Bierstedt, nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren,; sister, Ila Hirsch; special cousin, Terri Sigsbee; and many brother- and sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marilyn; son, Dr. Raymond Bierstedt; daughter Donna Hanson; granddaughter, Anne Holtorf-Birt,; daughter-in-law, Jane Bierstedt; son-in-law, Ron Hanson; and great-granddaughter, Katelyn Sandbulte.
