Donald “Don” Rodawig, III, 75, of Okoboji, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Don will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place in the Lake View Gardens Cemetery in Okoboji. The Mass will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Donald Floyd Rodawig, III was born on August 23, 1949, to Doris Dienne and Donald Floyd Rodawig Jr. in Spirit Lake, IA. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School and attended Iowa Lakes Community College and the University of South Dakota. Don returned to Spirit Lake and was involved in Real Estate with Blaine Hoien, Peters & Reimers Insurance, KVI, Rodawig and Associates, and Co-Owner of Best Insurance and Best Bonding. He was on the Okoboji Board of Adjustments, the Okoboji Planning and Zoning Board, the Spirit Lake Planning and Zoning Board, Spirit Lake Fire Department, Spirit Lake Kiwanis, Past President of Iowa Lakes Realtors, Okoboji Board of Review, Chamber of Commerce as well as volunteering at Lakes Regional Hospital.
Don enjoyed hunting, boating, and golf and was blessed with two daughters, five grandchildren, and had a myriad of friends and acquaintances.
Don is survived by his partner Jan Beck; daughter Angela (Tom) Kun; grandchildren Adam and Jacob; son-in-law Ed Birkey; grandchildren Max, Sol, and Kate; Jan’s son Matt and Jennifer Beck; their son Jackson; siblings Ann Dinklage (Rex Potter), Jane (Dan) Hummel, Liz (Steve) Bennett, David (Michelle) Rodawig, and Dan (Suzanne) Rodawig; aunts Susan Reams, Sandra Smoley, and Julie Rodawig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Doris Dienne Rodawig, father Dr. Donald F. Rodawig, Jr., daughter Jennifer Birkey, his sister Mary Dunleavy, and his nephew Jackson David Rodawig.
As he was known by many, “D III” will be forever remembered for his fun-loving spirit! Blessed be his memory.
