Diane K. Brown, age 87, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Lake City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Keelson Harbour in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery near Lake City, Iowa, at a later date.
Diane Kay Nichols was born on June 11, 1937, in Calhoun County, Iowa. She was the oldest daughter of Don and Sylvia (Blair) Nichols. She married the love of her life, Charles (a.k.a Charlie, Chuck or Pudge) and the two lovebirds made it official on November 22, 1967, in Carroll, Iowa. Diane had several secretarial positions over the years, including the elevator in Lake City, and Area on Aging on Grand Avenue in Spencer. She retired in the early 2000s. That’s when the young couple became snowbirds – traveling to South Padre for 14 years and Arizona for 2 years. They also enjoyed their beautiful home they built in Triboji for many years.
Diane loved to go to concerts and Rock the Roof was one of her favorites to attend (even before they had air conditioning!) She would get the Lakes News Shopper every Tuesday and sit down with her calendar and plan what dances / bands they were going to attend that week! They could “twist” like no one else at the VFW or Table 316, just to name a few.
Diane had many hobbies, she enjoyed fishing, gambling, bus trips, playing cards (best score keeper, ever!), eating out and especially enjoyed the many vacations they took. She was the kindest, sweetest person to everyone she met.
Charlie and Diane had so many wonderful, lifelong friends they acquired over the years. Both are greatly missed! We all know they are happy to be reunited in heaven. Enjoy all the ice cream you can eat! Rest in peace, our dear friend.
