A Funeral Mass for Dennis Giles was held on January 25, 2023, in Los Gatos, California. Per Dennis’ wishes, he will be laid to rest at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery in Spirit Lake on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 2:00pm.
Dennis Giles passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer. He touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. He pushed through his illness with his Fighting Irish strength, positive attitude, and his devoted wife by his side. Dennis mastered the art of storytelling and making people laugh. He never lost his sense of humor and ability to connect with people.
Dennis was born in Cedar City, Utah, and graduated from The University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was a prominent business leader who helped shape much of the Bay Area’s commercial construction industry. After working for Rudolph & Sletten for 32 years, Dennis started his own highly successful company, Level 10 Construction, which he led with immense knowledge and professionalism.
Dennis was a football fanatic and a loyal Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers fan. He shared his love of the game with his daughter and grandchildren. Dennis loved spending time in his garage, working on his classic cars, or building in his beautiful woodworking shop in Okoboji, Iowa. He was inspired, dedicated, hard-working, and treasured having his grandson, Brooks, and stepson, Robby, involved in his projects as much as possible. Dennis always had a project or two or three. On a nice afternoon, you could count on finding him working on one of these projects with a cold BudLight not too far away. Dennis was a devout Catholic. He attended Mass as often as possible and was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Los Gatos, California.
A role Dennis treasured greatly was that of fatherhood to his daughter, Jacy. His presence was remarkable, his love abundant, and his influence undeniably special.
Dennis was also a devoted husband who cherished his wife, Terese, and all of their road trips and adventures. They built a beautiful life together filled with love, respect, and dedication. Dennis was always a dog lover and soon learned to appreciate cats and squirrels once he met Terese. Dennis, his favorite dog Brandy, and his favorite cat Frankie are now reunited.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Terese; devoted daughter, Jacy Giambi (Gianni); grandchildren, Jaden, Brooks, Braxton, London, Jordan, and Grey; siblings, Patricia Pierotti (Mike), Mary Ellen Freyermuth (Chuck), Deborah Rauner (Tom), Robert Giles Jr (Kathryn), and Maureen Blackhall (Craig); and many nieces and nephews.
Turner Jenness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
