Dean Minter, 89, of Okoboji, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa. A memorial service will be held, at 11:00am, on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake.

Dean Sherman Minter was born on February 11, 1935, to George Harden and Bernice Eloise (Cobb) Minter in Silica, Minnesota. He graduated from high school in 1953. He then attended and graduated from Northwestern Electronics Institute. In February of 1956 he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged in December of 1957. Dean worked as an Electrical Engineer for Honeywell. He retired in 1996. He was united in marriage to Barbara Martinson. To this union 4 children were born, Pamela, Paula, Corey and Eric. Barbara preceded Dean in death. He was later united in marriage to Edda Hinrichs on September 19, 2000, in Hill City, South Dakota. The couple later moved to Okoboji, Iowa.
In his free time, he enjoyed model railroading, woodworking, playing the harmonica and piano. He also enjoyed traveling and dancing with his wife Edda. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake.
Dean is survived by his wife, Edda Minter of Okoboji; daughter,Paula (Dave) Lazarus of Marritta, CA; son,Corey (Deb) Minter of Carmicheal, CA; son,Eric Minter of Bozeman, MT; step son,Scott (Linda) Carstensen of Hartley, IA; step daughter,Carrie (Dan) Grapevine of Brandon, SD; step so,Steve (Tammie) Carstensen of Lincoln, NE; sister,Joan Williams of International Falls, MN; sister,Jane Drynan of Port Orange, FL; brother,John (Sue) Minter if Mt Iron, MN; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Barbara Minter, daughter Pamela Sweeney, sister Dale Johnson and a brother Lynn Minter.
