Clement “Clem” McCoy, 80, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, at 10:30 AM,at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass. Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, formerly the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.spiritlakefuneralhome.com.

Clem McCoy was born May 13, 1942, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Mildred (Burns) McCoy. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1961 and went on to earn an Associate’s degree from Jackson Vo-Tech. Clem served in the National Guard for nearly a decade. 

On October 2, 1965, Clem married Lorraine Bartosh at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake, Minnesota,and raised 5 children. Clem started his career as a surgical assistant at the hospitals in Worthington, MN and Spirit Lake, IA. He enjoyed helping people and prided himself on being a lifetime learner. Clem later pursued a technical degree in electronics. He worked for many years as an electronics technician, eventually learning more about computers and maintaining computer systems. Clem retired in 2005.  

Clem and Lorraine are long-time members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Clem was a talented artist. In retirement he decided to try oil painting. He was self-taught and painted many beautiful paintings that will be cherished by his family. He was an avid reader and a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan and especially loved spending time with his family. Clem was a loving father and grandpa. He took great pride in each of his kids and grandchildren. 

Honoring his life are his wife of 57 years, Lorraine McCoy of Spirit Lake; son,David (Barbara) McCoy of Omaha, Nebraska; daughters,Karen (Ron) Moss of Urbandale, Iowa; Sharon (Patrick) O’Brien of Spirit Lake; and Sandra (Dave) Wallace of Brandon, South Dakota; 11grandchildren and 1great-grandchild; siblings,Jerry McCoy of Hopkins, Minnesota; Mary Ann (Steve) Myers of Richfield, Minnesota; Kathy Schaffer of Mankato, Minnesota; Michael McCoy of El Paso, Texas; Therese McCoy of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Margaret (Todd) Loudenslager of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; along with many nieces and nephews. Clem was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark, brothers:Larry, Joe, and Pat; in-laws:Laura McCoy, Lou McCoy, James (Jim) Schaffer, Carol McCoy, and Elaine McCoy.
